Have you ever busted a rod? When it happens, it’s usually due to user error. For example, car doors are tough on rods.
It’s only happened to me twice. The first time it happened, it wasn’t a mistake I made. My rod had been pre-stressed with a surprise 30-lb. white seabass on my bass rod. I managed to land the fish.
A month later, I was catching small yellowtail offshore. I wanted to make it more sporty and one of the little “rats” finished off the job started by the seabass. (I guess that’s still kind of user error.)
