Back when I was a young angler, I used to do a lot of fishing off my local pier. I was a kid, so I didn’t have a particularly great setup. My setup consisted of a spool of fishing line on a metal dowel, and some hooks and weights. But I had a system that worked. At low tide, I’d scrape mussels off the dock pilings, then fish them on the incoming tide. I’d catch perch consistently on my primitive setup, and I was happy.
Handlining is a good example that you don’t need the top gear to catch fish. However, marlin isn’t typically a fish you think about when it comes to handlining! This guy did it. Don’t believe me? Watch the video!
