In Mexico, the jack crevalle is called toro. Toro means bull, and it’s an appropriate name for this fish. With their broad head, stout body, and hard fighting nature, it’s easy to see how the fish would get this name. The fish has a broad geographic range. I understand they aren’t much in terms of eating, but the fun factor makes it a favorite sport fish.
In this video from Addictive Fishing, these anglers battle big mean jacks biting topwater lures off the Space Coast of northern Florida. They seem a little undergunned if you ask me, but they seem fine to enjoy the ride. It takes them so long, they call them One Hour Jacks.
